SECTION 0 | Notes for TDU personnel

Since we look to provide effective training, here are some notes to help you host an excellent Basic Training! Make sure you’ve read the Guidelines first!

Co-host and safety measures

It is recommended you have a co-host who can take over if needed and help you supervise your recruits and assist during certain sections. Additionally, when you’re ready to start, take a screenshot of your recruits in case some unexpected issues occur.

Time expectations

You must wait at least 5 minutes before you begin your training. Check if the system has announced the training in the Recruit Training channel of the Discord server; in case it has not, announce it manually using the same template as the automatic announcements. You must specify the server the training is being hosted in. The time limit for Basic Training is 150 minutes.

To prevent abuse, it is required that your training must be going on for at least 15 minutes before it can be concluded. If you try to conclude the training early, you may be disciplined.

Use your own judgment

From time to time, use “Is that understood?” to check if your recruits are paying attention to the training. Remember to be lenient when possible. Don’t strike/punish recruits for insignificant mistakes such as moving a little.

Other notes

This guide contains more notes throughout the document. To make it easier for you to notice the text you have to copy and paste for recruits, we have surrounded it using boxes, just like this message.

SECTION 1 | Training Introduction

Upon spawning, recruits should grab their uniform, spawn a 2015 bullhorn prancer pursuit and get to the briefing room.

You are now ready to begin your training!

  • Good day, and welcome to theWisconsin State Patrol Academy!

  • I am [rank] [username], and I will be your instructor for today. You are to address me as “Sir”, “Ma’am” or “Instructor”

  • Is that understood?

  • A well-functional and efficient Police Department has many set regulations that make it run smoothly.

  • During this training session, you must follow the instructions that I give to you.

  • Is that understood?

Make sure all recruits have grabbed the uniform before inviting them to the training.

SECTION 2 | Classroom

For this section, you must transfer the recruits into a classroom. Ask them to; walk to the sheriff’s office briefing room and ask them to take a seat.

  • Here, you will be taught the general rules, force continuum, and rules of engagement.

  • While acting under the name of the Madison Police Department, all officers must adhere to the following rules.

  • All officers are required to stay respectful and professional while on duty.

  • While on duty, you are required to wear a uniform and use the equipment provided.

  • Once you become an Officer, you will receive a variety of tools and equipment items for your duty.

  • You will be able to obtain those from the locker at the Police Department spawn.

  • As you advance through the ranks, you will unlock better weapons and other items.

  • Some of the most important tools you will unlock when you become a deputy are the MDT.

  • The MDT is a tool that you can use to see wanted civilians, check a suspect’s record, and join a training.

  • One of the most useful tools you will receive as an Officer is the Taser which can be used to stun wanted civilians.

  • Upon detaining a suspect, you will be able to perform actions such as grabbing, searching, citing, or arresting them.

  • You should not take their items away if they are wanted for only trespassing. If the suspect doesn’t pay for a citation, you can arrest them.

  • Do you have any questions?

  • Now let's move on to the Force Continuum and Rules of Engagement.

  • The FORCE CONTINUUM denotes the four (4) different types of force that officers have at their disposal. These are as follows:

  • Verbal Communication - Defusing a situation by means of talking.

  • Hands-On - Using your physical strength to defuse a situation.

  • Non-Lethal - Using non-lethal weaponry (baton, taser) to defuse a situation.

  • Lethal - Using firearms and other lethal weapons to deal with a situation.

  • The RULES OF ENGAGEMENT denote when to use each type of force as aforementioned. These rules are as follows:

  • If the suspect is compliant, you can use cooperative controls such as talking/verbal commands.

  • If the suspect is refusing to follow verbal commands but allowing you to physically move them, you may use a hands-on approach.

  • If the suspect is actively resisting arrest, you can use non-lethal force to handle the situation.

  • If the suspect is actively shooting to injure or kill others, lethal force is authorized, and you may shoot until the suspect is no longer a threat.

  • Failure to abide by the Force Continuum and Rules of Engagement will result in serious disciplinary action, such as suspension or demotion.

  • Do you have any questions?

SECTION 3 | Shooting Range

Have all recruits get in their cars and drive to the gun store.

THIS SPACE HAS BEEN INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK, SCROLL DOWN

  • Recruits, welcome to the Shooting Range section!

  • Here you will be given a firearm, this firearm is the training Glock, and you will learn how to handle it.

  • The training glock is a non-lethal variant of the standard duty Glock 17's that you will receive after becoming Police Officers.

  • The following commands are used on the shooting range:

  • Draw: Equip your firearm.

  • Aim: Put the crosshair on the target.

  • Fire: Shoot a bullet.

  • Fire at Will: Shoot until out of bullets.

  • Reload: Reload your clip/magazine.

  • Holster: Unequip your firearm.

  • Always remember the golden rule: NEVER shoot when someone is down the range. If you shoot anyone during this section, you will be striked.

  • Is that understood?

This section is essential as well. Make sure you teach them how to use a weapon and help them if they seem to need more guidance.
